Astra Van De Blom BWP

General comments

Astra Van de Blom, a mare who is extremely close to people, has never competed, although we don't know the reason. However, she doesn’t seem to have ever been injured, and her own sister Cana Van de Blom competes in 1m60 events, as well as their mother's sister, Semira de Saulieu, over the same very big courses. A family of excellent performers. Her uterine brother, C. Napoleon JT Z was sent, as a foal, to Christian Ahlmann!

She has the maternal line of Danaïde who has produced the legendary May Flower III, a mare from the bloodline of the Forêts stud.

In 2022, Astra gave us a very beautiful filly by the superb Cornado Fontanel Z (Cornado II Z x Untouchable M) who put on a incredible show at his assessment at Zangersheide. This young lady, born on the 13th of May, is called Catiouchka Morinda Z.

Re-inseminated by our young stallion (a son of Ulyss) Hélios Morinda Z, Astra surprised us with a second filly, whom we’ve named Hélia Morinda Z.

 Hélia was born on the 14^th of June 2023 and, since her father, Hélios is homozygous for Tobiano and black, Hélia is, of course, a Tobiano. She’s certainly the first of this colour in Astra’s line!

Père : Kashmir Van't Schuttersho sBs

Her father, the famous Kashmir van Schuttershof, has become one of the great names in breeding.

 He’s a son of the Founding Father NABAB DE REVE, Philippe Lejeune’s crack horse, and sire of countless top-level winners including, of course, Vigo Arsouilles, the World Title holder ridden by Philippe Lejeune, and plenty of others such as Glock’s London (out of Carembar de Muze, BWP), double Olympic silver medalist in London in 2012 and part of the team which won the World Championship in 2014 at Caen with the Dutchman Gerco Schröder. Also Valentina van’t Heike (BWP), team bronze medalist at JEM Lexington in 2010 ridden by the Belgian Jos Lansinnk, and many other 1m60 winners. We no longer present Nabab.

 As for his son Kashmir, Philippe Lejeune said of him: “He had a extraordinary character, a very good gallop, an excellent hindquarters movement and a great mouth. I rode him in a little rubber Pelham. He was quite easy to ride, respectful and had a fantastic attitude.”

Having injured his hock, Kashmir had to bid goodbye to Aix la Chapelle and to the Olympic Games at Athens.

"If he hadn’t suffered this accident, he would have shone in championships and Grands Prix, and would have been phenomenal. He had all the talent and an extraordinary attitude. I really enjoyed riding him. He was not a Thoroughbred, but he had enough spirit to be very competitive."

 

Première mère : Ranita De Saulieu

Ranita de Saulieu, by another Founding Father, KANNAN, is also the dam of the excellent Cana Van de Blom, among others, (a 1m60 mare), a full sister of Astra Van de Blom. One of her last products, C. Napoleon JT Z, might be seen, in the future being ridden by Christian Ahlmann.

 

Deuxième mère : Horeade Dalex SF

Horeade Dalex, a daughter of Major de la Cour produced Semira de Saulieu who stood out in 1m60 events (the final of the 2015 World Cup). The descendants of Semira, such as Valmy de Seraincourt, one of her grandsons classified in 1m60, are already starting to stand out in top events.

Troisième mère : Oreade

Oreade, is herself the daughter of Danaïde. This mare is also the mother of the great MAY FLOWER III who produced many of the stallions at the Forêts Stud. These include Un Diamant des Forêts GFE, Nectar des Forêts ISO 163, Flower des Forêts ISO 163, the stallion Stew Boy ISO 150, Licorne des Forêts who is the mother of Zirroco Blue...
