General comments

Ah l'Histoire Fontanel Z is a magnificent mare from an extraordinary line (see her maternal bloodline below): The best of both worlds! She looks more than just promising and we are sure she will prove to be an outstanding success.

Histoire, as everyone calls her, is intended for Sport and probably for top level Sport, in Jumping. She has a lot of spirit and shows enormous potential. She also has an absolute honesty, takes every fence without a second glance, and it seems we must be especially careful that she doesn’t go jumping everything she sees! As a 3 year old, during her first jumping at liberty session, after flying over a very small oxer, she accelerated and leapt over the door of the 1.70 m high manège door.... No comment!

As a four-year-old, Histoire, who had been well broken in and who we wanted to allow to grow for a bit, gave us two embryos. Then she went for a few months to Rik Hemeryck but she was too young to stay there.

As a six-year-old, in 2023, already begun to compete under the saddle of Soline Willeman who has been quietly teaching her to channel her extraordinary energy. Indeed, Histoire, as a true daughter of Aganix, is brimming with spirit. It’s essential to be able to manage this enthusiasm! But she and Soline are already forming a good partnership and we are very happy since we have great faith in this magnificent, powerful mare.

Offspring

In 2022, we obtained two youngsters from Histoire from embryonic transfer.

The first is a filly born on the 27th of April 2022 and named QUIDAME MORINDA Z. She is a daughter of Quel Homme de Hus, an extraordinary champion whom we no longer represent. The name Quidame is a nod back to his famous paternal grandsire, Quidam de Revel, a grandson of the founding father, Almé.

The second is a colt, born on the 31st of May and named JAGUAR MORINDA Z. He’s a son of Jenson van’t Meulenhof, which repeats the crossing of our excellent Inoui du Seigneur (Jenson and a daughter of Aganix du Seigneur).

Père : Aganix Du Seigneur Z

Aganix du Seigneur has had an extraordinary story. He is a son of the scorching Ogano Sitte, whose third dam is the Olympic mare Gute Sitte, who was ridden by Eric Wauters (team bronze medal).

But as Aganix's mother also has the famous Gute Sitte as her third mother (great granddam), this has created an interesting inbreeding to this crack horse.

Aganix was the great hope of Jos Lansink with whom he was beginning to compete in the 1.55m and 1.60m events. Jos Lansing wanted to take him to the J.0 in Rio. But unfortunately the career of this powerful chestnut came to an end following an injury in Rotterdam. The stallion was then bought by Zangersheide, where, to begin with, he was rather sidelined. However, despite a very small production ... it wasn’t long before his produce burst into the limelight. Aganix became a star stallion in record time and the performance of his offspring in the biggest world events only confirms this. Very willing horses with great power, and with a magnificent back movement, and all of them full of spirit.

Première mère : Tara Fontanel SF.

Tara Fontanel, by Cassini II, is a daughter of Eponine de Defey (Laudanum x Uriel). Due to her extraordinary papers, after having been tested over poles, she was committed to breeding. Tara had everything, including looks. She has always been very chic with an adorable character ...

Back then, she had been sold and had produced two offspring of which the first, Benroy (ISO 121) was born when Tara was 4 years old.

However, she was bought back and regained to her place at the Fontanel stud. Ah l'Histoire is her first foal  bred by Fontanel, followed by the magnificent Jiraya Fontanel (Balou du Rouet).

Deuxième mère : Eponine Du Defey SF

Eponine du Defey, by the Thoroughbred Laudanum, full sister of Fantine de Defey, continues the lineage that dates back to Flambeau C and his sister Camera (by Rantzau). These are names that everyone who experienced that era will never forget! Camera has become one of the foundation mares of Selle Français breeding. As for Flambeau ... for twelve years he was the lead horse for the French team! He always went 4th in the Nations Cup, because we could always count on him.

Flambeau, the legend who walked the streets of New York at a time when horses traveled less easily than they do today ...

Troisième mère : Tess Du Defey SF

Tess du Defey, (by Uriel) is the daughter of the famous INULA. And Inula was the uterine sister of Flambeau C, Camera and Roi du Manoir, as well as being full sister of Jupiter AK. Indeed, the dam of Flambeau C, NARCISSE, succeeded in producing 5 horses which have competed in Grand Prix (out of 5). Exceptional!

Inula was herself a Grand Prix mare with Jacques Bonnet. Then she had an extraordinary production with, among others, Sher Khan du Defey, renamed Sher Khan San Patrigano, a big winner in CSIO. She produced too many crack horses to name them all. Her very first product was Madrilon, mother of Brullemail ...

As for Tess herself, she produced, among others, Coriolan du Defey (by Almé), sold at 6 months at the Fences Sales for a record price (200,000 FF), then sold again for 2,500,000 FF at 3 years old to the USA and who has become "Horse of the Year".
