General comments

Epopee H Morinda, a superb Oldenbourg in foal to Ulyss Morinda, wasn’t born with us but in buying her, her definitive papers not having been completed, we’ve been able to choose her name. In view of her quality, we’ve made her into a Morinda. She’s a mare as gifted over fences as she is in Dressage, something that’s not a surprise when you look at the quality of her pedigree : a concentration of champions which brings together Samber (and so also Pericles), Wellington (Nimmerdor and Farn) as well as “Olympic” Ferro!

Epopee has a very big jump with an excellent front movement and a huge bascule (see the video of her at liberty). While as for how she carries herself…let’s just say that she couldn’t be disowned by her maternal grandfather the legend “Olympic Ferro”.

After her first foal Epopee H Morinda will begin her sporting career. All routes are open to this beautiful mare as gifted in show jumping as she is at dressage!

Offspring

At the beginning of May 2018 Epopee gave us a superb foal by Ulyss Morinda. We’ve named him Ios Morinda. He’s very lively and extremely sweet natured.

Pedigree

Her father, Sambertino, was born of equine nobility. He is the son of the renowned SAMBER who the American Mrs Nathalie Kilpatrick ( a specialist in coloured horses and author of a series of articles about the great coloured stallions) named a “World Wide Legend”. There are plenty of other superlatives that were attached to him, such as “The King of Coloured Horses” and “The Founding Father of Coloured Horses”. He very much merits these titles. He reached Grand Prix level Dressage and also level Z (BSJA Grade A) over fences. He also comes from an excellent family. His father, PERICLES, born in the UK in 1962 won many races and was just as successful over fences. He was named “Keur” in 1976 and “Preferent” in 1977….

The dam of Sambertino is a daughter of WELLINGTON, such a famous bloodline that I don’t need to introduce it. Wellington (one of whose daughters produced the Founding Father of the breed KANNAN) is the son of the stallion NIMMERDOR, the legend of the KWPN studbook, one of the best horses of the 20th Century, himself having competed at the highest level. A phenomenon!

Epopee H Morinda’s mother, Operette, is none other than the daughter of the crack horse FERRO (full name Olympic Ferro). A team Dresage silver medal winner in the Young Riders World Championships in 1998, he continued to win medals whilst ridden by Copy van Baalen in the European Championships then at the Olympic Games in 2000. Finally, the partnership was placed second in the Individual World Cup at Hertogenbosch, Ferro will remain in the record books for a long time.
