Gaïa Morinda SF

Female Chestnut 2 years old

General comments

Gaia Morinda is a splendid filly who was born on the 17th of June 2017. Yes, she is not a coloured foal as we had hoped, but…she is so lovely that we have not been disappointed. She is SUMPTUOUS, with a wonderful style and enormous presence. The cross between her mum, Viki du Lurentin and our young stallion Ulyss Morinda has been a great success. We have repeated the cross and Gaia should have a full brother or sister in 2017.

Gaia Morinda, who bears the name of the mother goddess in Greek Mythology (the mother amongst others of Uranus the sky, Aphrodite, Cronos…) is a lively filly, intelligent and very close to people. She sticks like glue. And…she is our first filly from Ulyss and she is also the grand daughter of Stacy, our very first brood mare.

We’re in a hurry to see her as a three year old over poles!!!

Pedigree

Her father, Ulyss Morinda whose base bloodline goes back to the Grand Prix mare UTRICULE (ridden by Marc Roguet) was as a six year old Hunter Champion of France, Elite, then came back to the Jumping world. He was approved as a Selle Français stallion as a seven year old then he brought home the Young Stallions Masters at St Lo and was classed as “Very Promising” by the ANSF.

At eight, he confirmed this, winning in CSI 3* over 1.40m and competing up to 4* in classes up to 1.45m. And at nine in 2017, he is already placed over 1.50m.

In 2018, Ulyss is confirming his quality, being placed 2nd at the start of the year in the 1.50m (3*) Grand Prix at Bonheiden (just half a second off Daniel Deusser), placed 7th in the 1.50m Bourg en Bresse Show Jumping (4*) and jumping in the 1.55m at Maubeuge with and incredible effortlessness. He is now performing in Grand Prix 1,60 m.

Gaïa Morinda's mother, Viki du Lurentin who showed a very big jump, was injured as a four year old. Her father Napoleon d’Es by INDOCTRO passed on the blood of the founding fathers CAPITOL I, CALETTO II (Cor de la Bryere) and WELLINGTON (NIMMERDOR). This isn’t counting ALME, a bit further back, via his son Joyau d’Or who had great produce (amongst others the father of the mother of Ideal de la Loge)!

Her grand mother Stacy (also presented on this site) has produced well, both show jumpers and a dressage horse.
