Ulyss Morinda was placed in his first Nations' Cup at the 5 star CSIO in Gijon in Spain.

Ulyss Morinda was selected at the request of his rider, Rik Hemeryck, to represent Belgium in his very first Nations' Cup in August 2018.

After two clear rounds in the 1.40m classes, Ulyss and Rik launched themselves into the first round of the Nations' Cup competition, over 1.60m.  A very big and technical course.  Unfortunately Ulyss just touched the water yet he cleared the fences without the least trouble (but the distance wasn't ideal for him) then he also had 4 faults at the double.  So 8 faults in all.

These 8 faults nevertheless allowed the Belgian team (missing one of their members due to the rider having fallen off when his horse refused) to participate in the second round and to finish with a placing.

In the second round, over an identical course and under the watchful eye of the Belgian team manager, Peter Weinberg, Ulyss this time flew over the water jump and finished with just 4 faults, a very small mistake because he had barely touched the pole.  He has once and for all proved to us that the height of 1.60m poses no problem to him and he jumped the second round in a very relaxed fashion.

We can say that he has reached a milestone in his career.  All he needs now is a little more experience.
