Ulyss Morinda, noticed by German equine websites

A very good article appeared in Spring-reiter.de following Ulyss Morinda and Rik Hemeryck’s victory on the 15th of June 2018.

Translation :

A victory for Hemeryck at Gross Viegeln, with the speed of HGW (Hans Gunter Winkler).  “I learnt this sort of top speed agile riding with Hans Gunter Winkler,” he explains and offers – with a charming smile, his bouquet of flowers to an unknown young woman.  It’s twenty years since Rik Hemeryck worked for two years in the Winkler stables at Warendorf, and he still has the speed.  In 33.36 incredible seconds, the Belgian swept up like a tornado the second phase of the Prix de la Societe Gebr Bauzentrum Löffler GmbH, the first competition of the Grand Tour, quite untouchable, he steamed to victory in the DKB-Pferdenwochen at Gross Viegeln.

Paul Schockemohle was the first to congratulate him, with a sly smile, saying to him : “Tell me you couldn’t stop your horse, and that it’s for that reason that you were so quick!”  Hemeryck laughs and caresses his prize winning partner, the ten year old coloured Selle Francais stallion, Ulyss Morinda (by Utah van Erpekom).  Completely relaxed, he explains : “I am a calm guy, but I do like to win.”  The professional Belgian rider has been riding the stallion for three years now, and he has already won several Grand Prix.  But, this Sunday at Gross Viegeln, he will be starting in his first 4* Grand Prix.
